THE GREAT RIVER RACE

DISNEY UK & GREAT ORMOND STREET HOSPITAL

The journey we have been on has not been for the feint hearted, we are fitter and stronger. We have trained not just for ourselves but for the kids and parents at Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital.

Challenge

32 intrepid Disney UK cast members committed to row the gruelling 22 mile course of 'The Great River Race', along the Thames. Most had never rowed before, but they wanted to test themselves, whilst raising important funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).

Inspire

The crews undertook a six month programme which included fitness and training in the gym and on the water and a number of fundraising events for GOSH. They were inspired and encouraged by the FWP Academy team, including an Olympic gold medalist, a World champion and the first woman to row solo across 3 oceans.

Deliver

Their fantastic commitment to both the preparation for the event and the fundraising for the charity was amazing to see. Each of the 4 boats achieved commendable times. The 32 rowers and their supporters raised an incredible £80,000 as part of the company's long-term £10 million pound fundraising for GOSH.
